Dr. Patrick Agbesinyale

Dr. Patrick Agbesinyale will lecture on module 3, Project module: Environmental management
in West Africa. Patrick Agbesinyale is currently a Senior Research Fellow/Lecturer at the
Institute for Development Studies in the University of Cape Coast. He holds a Doctorate Degree
(PhD) in Development Planning and Management, obtained from the University of Dortmund in
the Federal Republic of Germany. Earlier, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and
Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon and followed it up with a Master’s Degree
in Development Planning and Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. His areas of interest include Natural Resources,
Mining, Environment, Rural Development, Politics and Civil Society Organisations/NGOs
including Trade Unions. Patrick has published a number of books and papers on Mining and
Environment and also on Trade Unions. Patrick is also actively involved in NGO work and is
currently the Executive Director of the Christian Rural Aid Network (CRAN), a local NGO based
in Cape Coast which is involved in rural and pro-poor development programmes and activities.
