Quepos seen through local eyes
Andrés is responsible for managing the program,me in Quepos. Hear his best tips on what do do in this lovely area!

My name is Andrés Valverde. I am currently working with the Global Environmental Studies students in Manuel Antonio, Quepos.
I am happy to experience life here with the students; Manuel Antonio is a vibrant beach town with plenty of fun activities. It is located in the Quepos Municipality, in my perspective one of the most beautiful touristy and beach areas in Costa Rica.

Quepos is a small beach city where you can find everything you need: restaurants, small and bigger supermarkets, cafés and social and cultural activities. Also, Quepos is where the UISIL campus is located, most specifically in Paquita.
As a local Costa Rican, the main attraction I can think of when thinking of Quepos is the Marina Pez Vela, where there are wonderful sailboats to observe.
This is very attractive for us, especially if we have mainly lived in a city. Also, this is a place where prestigious fishing tournaments happen, like the PELAGIC Rockstar Offshore Tournament in which Michael Jordan (former NBA player) participated.

My favorite activity in Quepos is to visit the Marina for coffee and sunset. A restaurant I would recommend for doing the same but in the center is Bahía Azul.
Closeby is Manuel Antonio. The first impressions you get when going to Manuel Antonio are the beautiful mountains you cross to get there, on the uphill part of the road you get to see a wonderful sight of the open sea.
Once in Manuel Antonio, you are surrounded by tourists, nature, and animals. I think of Manuel Antonio as a colorful place: you will find beautiful pink and orange sunsets, tall green trees, and the sea's blue-turquoise color, all in one place!
Although it’s difficult to decide, my favorite activities in Manuel Antonio are swimming in the National Park’s beaches and kayaking in Biesanz beach.
If lucky, I like to see monkeys/sloths when they show up in the trees sometimes. I would like to try the zip-line sometime as well!
A nice café/restaurant in Manuel Antonio is Café Milagro, with live music on the weekends, and for a good meal in front of the beach, Marlin and Buru restaurants are awesome.
I invite you to experience Quepos and Manuel Antonio. It is for sure unforgettable!
